#WFS001 Prickly Pear Seed
|
|
The thorny Prickly Pear (Opuntia humifusa) is the only cactus native to Michigan. These low growing hardy perennials prefer shaded to full sun in dry, poor, sandy soil. Prickly pears have large, flat, spine covered oval pads and showy yellow flowers that appear in July. Plants produce pads from 4" to 8" long and pears 3" to 4" long. The flowers are beneficial to butterflies and the pears (edible raw or dried) are forage food for many wild animals. The large seeds readly germinate. Looks great in rock gardens and as a potted plant. It can take 4 to 5 seasons to mature under the best conditions. Prices are in U.S. currency and include shipping & handling fees. We will pay your Michigan sales tax! We only ship inside the continental United States.
